Budaya Kepemimpinan Debora dan Relevansinya bagi Kepemimpinan Masa Kini

Abstract

Studies on biblical leadership figures have predominantly focused on male figures such as Moses, David, and Paul, leaving female leadership in the Bible underexplored. This study aims to examine the leadership culture of Deborah as recorded in the Book of Judges chapters 4 and 5, and its relevance to contemporary leadership. This research employs a biblical hermeneutics method with a qualitative descriptive approach through narrative and poetic textual analysis, historical contextual study, and theological dialogue with contemporary leadership theories. The novelty of this research lies in constructing a holistic leadership model based on a female biblical figure that is explicitly brought into dialogue with modern leadership theory. Results indicate that Deborah's leadership is characterized by five key qualities: (1) Deep spirituality and obedience to God; (2) Courage and decisiveness in decision-making; (3) Ability to collaborate and empower others; (4) Servant leadership oriented toward the community; and (5) Consistent moral integrity. These values hold significant relevance for leadership in church, organizational, and socio-political contexts today. This study concludes that Deborah's leadership model transcends gender and cultural boundaries, offering a transformative leadership paradigm grounded in strong spiritual and moral values.
